NEW/OLS interview: original HERE

Quote:
Unless you live in another planet, you certainly know the actor Robert Pattinson plays the wonderful vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight and New Moon. You also know that the next installment of the Saga, written by the american writter Stephenie Meyer, Eclipse, will come to the theaters soon, more specifically on june 30th. Now, in the third chapter of the story, Bella has to choose between vampire Edward and werewolf Jacob. You probably already know the path this will take.

So, how about something you don't know? We were very lucky. We interviewed Robert Pattinson in Los Angeles, two days after his 24th birthday, and we asked him about his work in Eclipse, what to expect from Breaking Dawn and how does he handle the pressures of fame. He also talked about who he's a fan of and why he doesn't deserve a spot in the best dressed and sexiest men lists.

A: First and foremost, happy belated birthday! Well, since you play a character that never grows old, how do you deal with birthdays?
R: Playing a vampire makes me feel like I'm getting older faster than I actually am, cause every six months I come back to the set and everyone says: "What have you been doing? It seems like you're one year older." I turned 24 and I feel like 35.

A: Eclipse opens very soon. Do you think the fans will be surprised?
R: Twilight had a story more focused on Edward and Bella and New Moon was more about Jacob. So, Eclipse is interesting cause everyone has their place and the audience can see Edward, Bella and Jacob interacting with each other.

A: And to you, what was the biggest challenge in playing Edward this time around?
R: Edward lives different emotions in Eclipse. In the first two movies, he's a lot more distant to everyone, but now he needs to be a part of the world and not be indifferent if he wants to keep his relationships.

A: Do you have a favotire scene?
R: I like the scene where Bella thinks she's cheating on me with Jacob and Edward has to deal with it and forgive her. It's one of the most interesting scenes.

A: How would you describe the experience of working with David Slade?
R: It was exciting, cause David came up and said: "I wanna make something really different." And I think he succeeded. There will be a huge contrast between Eclipse and the other ones.

A: There are rumors that Breaking Dawn will be in 3D, what do you think of that?
R: I see myself in 3D all day [laughs]. I can't even imagine the movie in 3D, to be honest, but I think it's cool.

A: There's still a little time left before the Twilight Saga's over, but how do you think you'll feel when it's all done?
R: Between movies, I always forget how much I like the character. It's very comfortable and indulging to be able to come back to Edward, experiment and develop my performance in each film. But it's hard to think about this whole experience. It all happened so fast and exploded in such a short amount of time, it's like a supernova. I think it'll take me ten years to process all of this.

A: Do you know what you'll be doing before shooting Breaking Dawn?
R: I just wrapped a movie called Bel Ami, with Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas, and I'm about to start shooting Water For Elephants.

A: And how are the roles you play in those movies?
R: In Bel Ami, I play a parisian for whom it's impossible to have any empathy. He treats badly anyone who does him any favors, but he ends up with a lot of money, which I think is quite realistic [laughs].

A: And what about Water For Elephants?
R: The movie's set around the time of the Great Depression and I play a guy who drops out of College and join the circus.

A: So, you actually work with elephants?
R: Yes. It's a great story, an amazing cast, a very good director and a spetacular movie, without any special effects, but one of the things that caught my attention were the elephants. I met them, and I'm going to work with them, it's wonderful. Do you know elephants purr? I found that out.

A: With each one of your characters have you learned the most?
R: Besides Edward, I'd say it was Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes. I really changed my way to observe acting. But I think every character that I play has been defining my personality for that particular moment.

A: It seems like you work almost non stop. Do you have any vacation plans?
R: Not yet. Maybe after Breaking Dawn, but I feel like I don't have to. This job is like being on vacation, or at least it's not a heavy work. It's great going to work everyday.

A: Do you ever feel lonely?
R: I think that, since I work all day, I kinda live an isolated life. Most conversations I have are about the same subject and people sorta dictate the way I'm supposed to behave.

A: You're being considered the most famous actor in the world. How do you deal with all this attention?
R: I spend a lot of time hiding. There are good days and bad days, and I'd like to not panic about those things. But I think I try to keep work separate from my personal life, and with that, my ego hasn't been affected much. I don't get out of London if it's not because of work, but that doesn't mean I spend most of my time in Los Angeles, going to Hollywood parties.

A: Have you ever had a fan moment with someone famous?
R: I sat next to David and Victoria Beckham in a restaurant the first time I went to Los Angeles and I acted a bit like a fan.

A: Of whom, David or Victoria?
R: [laughs] A little bit of both, it was just surreal to me.

A: You said that success hadn't gone up to your head. But what about all of those times you're considered "the best dressed" or "the sexiest"? Isn't it cool?
R: I know that next year there'll be someone else on the list. Actually, those things make me laugh. This morning, I was leaving the gym and suddenly I realized that, not only I was wearing my old gym clothes and beat up sneakers, but I was also wearing black socks, the ones you wear with a two-piece-suit. I think that this, sometimes cancels the sexy and best dressed.

A: What's the weirdest question anyone's ever asked you?
R: People ask me if I believe in vampires, and I don't. Someone also asked me once the color of my tooth brush and I couldn't remember.

A: And what's the weirdest thing you've ever read about you?
R: That I was the best dressed. Who thinks that, obviously never saw me wearing gym clothes.

A: And what's the weirdest thing you've ever read about you?
R: That I was the best dressed. Who thinks that, obviously never saw me wearing gym clothes

LOL so true Rob so true lmao

But you look good in hobo clothes too no worries ;)

“Eclipse” star Robert Pattinson speaks, in this interview, about sex appeal, a move to Tokyo, and his masochistic core.

There are certainly no interview questions which Robert Pattinson hasn’t already heard. Despite that, millions of teens in the world desperately want to repeat every world that the “Twilight” vampire gives them. Reason enough for fem.com, once more, to intercept and grill him during his PR tour for his new film, “Eclipse.”

We asked the 24 year-old about his sex-symbol image, supposed dates with Paris Hilton, and his mama, and found out about things that you still don’t know.

Robert, can you quickly summarize, for all the newcomers, what happened in the first and second parts of the Twilight Saga?
“The Plot of the first part revolves around how great it feels when you are really in love for the first time. The sequel, ‘New Moon’, in contrast, shows the negative aspects of love: the fear and doubt which emerge when you’re in a committed relationship.”

“Eclipse” starts this summer and the finale, “Breaking Dawn,” is already underway. Why the rush?
“The production has one huge problem: we actors will all be older. Because of that we don’t have a lot of time and have to really hurry.”

Speaking of older: do you know then, little tricks to keep young?
“No, the opposite, I live extremely unhealthily and do—if I’m honest—only very little to stave off the aging process.”

All the same, people consider you a sex symbol and dream-man: What is sexy in your eyes?
“Little to nothing, if I really think about it. At school, for a long time, I was a real geek. Today I’d say I’m in danger of becoming masochistic. (laughs)”

Millions of girls and boys look to you. Do you see yourself as a role model?
“Not really. I mostly want to be nice to my fellow man to treat everyone in the same manner. Many actors are inclined to raise up and look down on other people. In this career, it’s really, really easy to be a complete asshole.”

You have two older sisters. Do they always bring you back to reality?
“Oh yeah. Already from the time that I was 18 they explained to me: if you hadn’t started styling your hair with gel, then you still would have always been one of these plain, boring people. (Laughs)”

Your mother reportedly believes all the crazy stories which, in your case, are rampant. How do you convince her that you don’t go out drinking every night, and haven’t had an affair with Paris Hilton?
“I’m sorry, what? I have never been on a date with Paris Hilton. Unfortunately, I use my mother frequently during interviews when no other fascinating anecdotes come to mind. Naturally she doesn’t believe a word of any of it.”

What do you think about the fact that the media dissect your private life and your relationships with a variety of female co-stars in order to promote the Twilight films?
“To start, let the magazines and tabloids sell themselves. Whether or not the films gain because of that, I don’t know. I, personally, definitely don’t help it. (Laughs)”

Hand on your heart: In what way has the Twilight Saga changed your life?
“If you find yourself in the eye of a storm, you’re not in a position to judge what goes on around you. Maybe I’ll be able to think it over in two or three years. At the moment I feel the whole thing is like a supernova: We shoot a film one after the other and the phenomenon grows and grows. And presently I stand in front of 20,000 screaming fans and haven’t the faintest idea who they’re calling for. I think it will still be a little while longer until I realize that they mean me.”

How do you evade the hordes of young girls scream at you and even want to be bitten by you?
“This mass hysteria can already sometimes be scary, but personally I have still never had anyone do something to me. Only once, during the shoot for ‘Little Ashes’, I had a stalker, who always waited for me at my apartment.”

Last summer you shot the film “Remember Me” in New York. Could you stay unaffected there?
“Not really. In New York it’s nearly impossible. Although it was only a really little project, thousands of people were standing around the set.”

Is there still one city where you can run around on the streets unrecognized?
“The only place where that happens now is Tokyo. I debated for a short time about moving there. (Laughs)”

Do you have plans in the future to do something against this abnormal state of affairs?
“I can’t really do anything against it, other than to pull myself completely out of the public eye, in order to lead a normal life. But I don’t know if that little anonymity is worth the cost. I mean, that the whole hype is over just as quickly as it came. Then it doesn’t bother me at all.”

In which situations does it seem different, how extraordinary your life appears?
“The only time that it’s really bizarre, is when I want to visit friends and need a bodyguard in order to do it.”

Do your friends like the spectacle?
“No, most of them don’t like the glamour and the whole shebang at all. It doesn’t influence them in any way. It doesn’t affect me either, by the way.”

At what place to you crave to be back the most, when you look back on your old life?
“I had this fantastic, old London apartment in Soho. You could climb onto the roof and it had a wonderful view of the city. Nearly every day I was up there, playing music, writing songs, and tried to include them.”

What do you have planned for next, once the last part, “Breaking Dawn,” is finished?
“It’s not very easy to choose what I want to do after that. Because ‘Twilight’ is that successful and brings in so much money, you feel as though you’re paralyzed. It exists the fear, one could lose if he takes the wrong step. In the event that the next film is a flop, everyone will say: See, he was only a one-hit-wonder. The impression is, therefore, huge.”

Quote:
Robert Pattinson: For the past three years I’ve heard crazy things about you

Exclusive interview with Franck Ragaine in Los Angeles

It’s in Beverly Hills that a short haired, relaxed, smiling and sometimes amused Robert Pattinson met with us to speak about Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight Saga, where he again takes the role that made him a star.

Since the beginning you’ve been compared to James Dean, does that flatter you?
I don’t know… In fact I’ve decided to take it as a compliment. But I know that I can never take the place of a James Dean. Further more the world of movies have changed so much, people like James Dean and Marlon Brando don’t exist anymore. At the time their name alone allowed them to have control on a movie. Today that’s not the case!

Aren’t you scared that you’ll be Edward forever?
If I understand correctly I’ll always be compared to someone else. In fact I’ve realized that the quote “The salary of an actor depends on the success of his last movie” is quite true.

Does the fact that you’re pigeon holed into the skin of this character scare you?
This com parison seems to decrease as the films go. Fans don’t see me like that anymore. Contrarily to the first movie they can differentiate my character and me. At the start when I did public appearances, for them I was Edward 100%. I could read it in their eyes. Many lacked control which scared me. Everything has changed and now when I do interviews I am as honest and sincere as possible. I’m not Edward and I make sure it shows.

Besides every thing else you play with medias, like when you recently said that Kristen Stewart (his partner in Twilight) was pregnant.…
The only times I answer like that is to avoid mani ulation that medias can sometimes do. If I don’t reply seriously, they can’t attack me seriously either. It’s a tactic!

In three years you must have read and heard every thing about yourself?
Incredible things! I’d have slept with so many people and made so many girls pregnant… But after a while, the public doesn’t believe what’s said anymore and they tell themselves that it’s not real. Thankfully!

Do you read fan mail?
Sometimes. I think that certain letters don’t get to me. I’m surprised I haven’t received death threats (smiles).

What is the most inde cent pro posal you’ve received from a fan?
I will keep that a secret as it was so indecent I doubt she was in her normal state of mind when she made it.

The funniest experience?
It was recently. It happened while I was filming “Water for Elephants in which my partner is Reese Witherspoon. We had a scene with elephants but there were so many paparazzi around that it was scaring the animals and it was impossible to film. Out of the blue, fans, that were wait ing for autographs, had enough and circled around the paparazzi. Teens made big guys run away. It was unreal! I was pleased.

In Eclipse you play Edward for the third time. Do you fear you’ll repeat yourself?
The more I become familiar with the role, the more I try to do new things and take risks. You can’t be scared to go on unknown areas. The prob lem with Edward is that he doesn’t age, there fore it doesn’t make the task easy. Because for a human being grow ing older brings on many possibilities.

But the relation ship between him and Bella changed in this third installment?
During the first two movies, his only worry was if he wanted to make a life with her. Now that he’s made the decision to marry her, there fore accepting a life in a more human form, it changes everything. He must face the world of the living more than the immortal one. It adds a complexity that’s interesting to play.

With the salaries you get did you do crazy things like buy the car of your dreams?
No, I don’t have a passion for car, I don’t see the point in spending my money on a car. Even clothes, I don’t care much, I wear the same things all the time. But I did buy myself a few guitars

Robert Pattinson Upstaged by a Puppy on the Water For Elephants Set!
Thursday - 6:00AM by PopSugar

Robert Pattinson was back in costume to work on Water For Elephants yesterday outside LA. He spent the afternoon on set despite having a big Tuesday evening out — he and Kristen Stewart were spotted leaving their friend Sam Bradley's show together! Robert has been busy logging time in front of the camera with Reese Witherspoon, but he had a new companion for yesterday's shoot. Instead of sharing a scene with his elephant costar, Rob acted alongside an adorable puppy.
